What is the Stone Mill / Atta Chakki?
The DPG Stone Mill / Atta Chakki grinds wheat into powdered form. The chakki has a pair of stones: one stationary and one rotating. Stone mills generate considerable heat through friction, which is part of the traditional character of chakki atta.
How it works
Wheat is fed into the centre of the stones. The rotating stone grinds it against the stationary stone, and the meal moves outward and is discharged around the edge, usually to a sifter.
